The AFL kicked more goals than rugby league on the weekend with more viewers watching the AFL grand final than the Rugby League grand final.

The AFL grand final was the most watched program all weekend, followed by the NRL grand final, according to OzTAM.

The AFL showdown had a bigger audience, with 2.635 million viewers on Saturday compared to Sunday’s rugby battle which drew an audience of 2.315 million.

AFL and rugby-related programs dominated the ratings all weekend, with AFL finals-related coverage in the top four most-watched programs on Saturday, followed by Seven News.

On Sunday, rugby league related programs came in the top three of most-watched shows, followed by Nine News and Seven News.
